WELCOME

The Trout Inn at Itchen Abbas, formerly known as The Plough, is quickly becoming one of the most talked about country inns in Hampshire. Situated in the picturesque valley of the River Itchen, it is winning an enviable reputation for the quality of its beer, good wines and excellent food.

What used to be an historic coaching inn that had its own brewery, the inn, it is said, was frequented by the celebrated nineteenth century novelist Charles Kingsley and is where he was inspired to write his most famous book,  The Water Babies.

Today, The Trout is a comfortably large inn with a fine dining, non-smoking, restaurant, yet still retaining a traditional country pub atmosphere. Your food will be prepared by award winning chefs. The style is regarded as clasic with a twist. All dishes are prepared on site using only the best quality local products.

Aside from the restaurant and bar, we have three comfortable rooms - two doubles and one twin with en-suite facilities and views across the valley. Ideal for business or pleasure, and only minutes away from Junction 9 of the M3 motorway,  the Trout  boasts ample parking, has an outside play area for children, and is at the heart of delightful walking country.

Customers and guests also have the benefit of free Wi-Fi internet connection.

You can be sure of a warm welcome.
